An Overview of the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) landscape in Singapore, including the provision of Total Workplace Safety and Health (Total WSH)

This presentation will give an overview of the Workplace Safety and Health landscape in Singapore. The key government agencies involved are the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC) and Tripartite Alliance Limited (TAL).

The role of MOM is to legislate the legal requirements, process certification and registration, monitoring and surveillance requirements, accident reporting and administer work injury compensation.

The WSHC is a statutory body under the MOM that is supported by TAL. It works closely with the industry, unions, professionals, trade associations and other government agencies to raise WSH standards in Singapore. In its latest WSH 2028 vision, it aims to make Singapore a:

A Healthy Workforce in Safe Workplaces;

A Country Renowned for Best Practices in Workplace Safety and Health

Total Workplace Safety and Health (Total WSH) is an approach that looks at safety and health together at work. It bears some resemblance to the US concept of Total Worker Health and it covers:

• safety;

• occupational health and

• personal health (including both physical and mental well-being)

The Total WSH programme is a free programme where Total WSH Service Providers will teach company how to manage safety and health in an integrated way, and educate their workers on how to better take care of their safety and health through modular activity packages.
